Paladins are often associated with words like loyal, gallant, and knightly, but Etrian Odyssey Untold II: The Knight of Fafnir’s very own Paladin, Bertrand, might be the opposite of all that. The game’s latest video introduces us to the old man.

The video starts out with Bertrand saying things like, “hey, looking the other way could be dangerous!” and “geez, I guess it can’t be helped,” and “why aren’t you young’uns the energetic ones?” He refers to himself as “old man” quite often.

He’s also heard asking, “is it okay if this old man sits down to rest a little?” and “well, there’s no point in rushing to get ahead,” so he isn’t exactly the most motivated character around, and sounds like he’d rather lounge around instead of going out to explore labyrinths.

However, when it comes to battle, he still complains, but he sounds a little more motivated and reliable when he says “I got this”. He also seems to put in a little more effort than you’d expect, so maybe he isn’t just a lazy old bum, after all.

You can also check out our earlier reports to check out Flavio, the ranger who knows how to party responsibly, and Arianna, the princess of Etrian Odyssey Untold II who always has a positive outlook on their adventures.

Etrian Odyssey Untold II: The Knight of Fafnir will release in Japan on November 27, 2014 for Nintendo 3DS.
