Metal Gear Online, the online component of Metal Gear V: The Phantom Pain, first came to Windows PCs this month in the form of a beta. Konami did some stress testing and ironed out a MB Coins exploit, getting various affairs in order. All the preliminary efforts have since come to an end, as Metal Gear Online officially launches today.
To celebrate the launch, Konami is running a Metal Gear Online promotion. If someone plays one match between January 19 and 26, they will receive 3,000 Gear Points. These can be used to customize a character’s gear. (Unfortunately, the cat hat seen in the screenshot above is only available via MB Coins.)
Konami also promised future Metal Gear Online updates in the launch announcement. It specifically notes that, “2016 is shaping up to be an exciting year for MGO, and with your continued support we’ll take it even further!” This perhaps suggests continued support past 2016.
Metal Gear Online is immediately available for Windows PC owners of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
