During the Monster Hunter Championship 2018 that took place over the weekend, Capcom shared footage with a closer look at the prototype Lagiacrus that ended up being cut from the final game.

Head to the 33:40 mark of the video where we get to see some familiar footage of an Anjanath chasing down the Hunter; however, this time it comes with a different twist with the appearance of a Lagiacrus instead of Rathalos, and we get to see its glorious Turf War encounter.

While a Lagiacrus would have been amazing to fight in Monster Hunter: World, the team concluded after several testing that there were too many technical issues in creating new motions and animations for Lagiacrus, so they decided to cut the Sea Wyvern from the game and it won’t be added via future update.

As an interesting bit of info, since the team already created new moves for Lagiacrus with the prototype build they decided to put those moves to use and gave them to Jyuratodus.
