Muramasa Rebirth is a 2D action RPG. Kisuke and Momohime can do a simple combo by pressing one button. Characters also have a jump attack to hit flying tengu and leaping ninjas. Each slash takes a bit of energy and if you overuse a sword it will break. Broken blades do less damage so you’ll probably want to switch to one of your other two blades if a sword snaps in half.
You can defend against enemy attacks by parrying (holding down the attack button) or repelling projectiles by pressing attack right before the projectile hits you.
Select Japanese retailers have an extra bonus with Muramasa Rebirth. You can get a Momohime telephone card from Softmap or a Torahime bromide card from Medialand. Here’s a look at the illustrations Vanillaware drew for the various bonus items. Muramasa Rebirth comes out in Japan on March 28. Aksys will release the Vita game in North America at a later date.
