Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon made a curious tweet last night, which makes it sound like NetherRealm Studios might be working on an HD re-release of Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. Take a look at his tweet below.

When asked by a fan if Superman and Batman would perhaps make cameos as playable characters, Boon replied, “Playable cameos in what game?”

 

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, unlike most other Mortal Kombat games, isn’t a fighter. It’s a third-person action game starring Liu Kang and Kung Lao. One can also unlock Sub-Zero and Scorpion as playable characters.
