Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is making an effort to combat the Wii with the PlayStation 2. In preparation for the holiday season they have two new EyeToy Play games coming out. EyeToy Play: PomPom Party gives players a chance to be cheerleaders by shaking actual pompoms to the music. The existing EyeToy Camera tracks the movement of the bundled pompoms.

EyeToy Play: Hero sounds similar to Dragon Quest Swords. It even includes a toy sword as part of the package. Similar to EyeToy Play: PomPom Party the USB camera tracks the sword’s movements as players slash their way through a fantasy adventure. Specific details about what kinds of movements these games will incorporate have not been discussed. There aren’t even any released screenshots to gaze at. However, I’m intrugiged to see how these games will stack up to We Cheer from Namco Bandai and Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors.

At this time, EyeToy Play: Hero and EyeToy Play: PomPom Party have no release date in North America, but it’s likely that these will see a release in the future.
