New Ace Attorney Game Will Take Place In The Meiji Period Of Japan

AA5-Trucy-Wright-IntroDuring a Nintendo Direct back in February, it was revealed that the original Ace Attorney series creator, Shu Takumi, was working on a new game of the series. This new project has been revealed as The Great Ace Attorney, and it takes place during the Meiji period of Japan. [Thanks, Zaregoto.]

As mentioned in our earlier report, the new Ace Attorney project was said to be completely different from past games of the series, and now that we know that The Great Ace Attorney will be taking place during the Meiji period (1868 – 1912), it sounds like it will indeed be quite different.

The protagonist of the game is known as Ryunosuke Naruhodo (Naruhodo is the name for Wright in Japanese), and he’s actually an ancestor of Ryuichi Naruhodo, or Phoenix Wright. The image shows him dressed in what appears to be a school uniform and he’s wielding a katana on the side, stating, “I’ll become a lawyer… definitely!”

The game will be directed by Shu Takumi. Shintaro Kojima, who previously worked on E.X. Troopers and the Monster Hunter series, will take on a role as producer.

The Great Ace Attorney is currently in development for Nintendo 3DS.
