Dragon Ball Super Hero

Toei Animation shared a new look at the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero anime movie. The second feature film based on Dragon Ball Super after 2018’s Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Super Hero was announced in July 2021. It is expected to premiere in 2022 in Japan. The new key visual was revealed via an update to the official Dragon Ball website and twitter account.

Gohan is in the center of the new Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero poster, in formation with Goku, Piccolo, and Pan. Behind them are Vegeta, and two new characters, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2. Three other characters, including two men dressed in suits and a third man in a hero costume, are as yet unidentified. Previous reports confirmed returning roles for characters like Dende, Bulma, and Krillin.

Little is known publicly about the plot or premise of the film, but Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama is handling the screenplay and character design. Work on the film began while Dragon Ball Super: Broly was in production. According to a report in ANN, Super Hero will focus on the titular “superhero” aspect of the series, as well as try to tell a “large scale story”.

The movie’s first trailer also debuted at the New York Comic Con event in October 2021. It showcases a new art style that employs CGI while retaining a traditional animated look.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is in development and will premiere in 2022 in Japan. International release dates are unconfirmed.
