The newest trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 shows a cutscene of Ethel. Nintendo of America shared the short clip through its Twitter account. As it’s only 30 seconds long, it’s a little difficult to grasp the full context, but it seems that Ethel will appear as an opponent in the game.

Ethel will debut in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. According to the Tweet from Nintendo, Noah’s team respected Ethel after Ethel saved them. However, it seems that she now views them as enemies. Indeed, though she does seem to rescue them in the clip, she does not seem to be a friendly.

In the trailer, Ethel’s eyes are both the same color, though when Nintendo first teased Ethel in late April 2022, screenshots showed her with one red eye. Her hair is also shorter than her character art, and she is not wearing her usual outfit.

Atsumi Tanezaki will voice Ethel in the Japanese audio of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. She previously voiced Agate in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Other roles include Faye from Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valentia and Iori Fuyusaka in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Nintendo has yet to announce an English voice actor for Ethel.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will launch on the Nintendo Switch on July 29, 2022.
