The Wall Street Journal reports that according to people briefed on the plans by Nintendo, the company will double its production of Nintendo Switch consoles going into the fiscal year ending March 2018.

The production of Switch consoles is expected to double starting next month, which is said to be a result of the high demand for the console. With 16 million units expected to be produced by March next year, it suggests the console’s first year is on a similar track to Nintendo’s popular Wii system, which sold over 20 million units in a little over a year.

Moreover, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima stated that they’ll begin by shipping out two million Switches worldwide each month. However, according to a source from Wall Street Journal, it’ll be more likely around 2.5 million units a month.

Nintendo Switch is available worldwide.
