The Pokemon 25th anniversary will fall on February 27, 2021. However, everyone involved is already teasing the celebratory events. We got our first taste of it on Thanksgiving 2020. The logo for this next event involves a simple Pikachu face. However, instead of any facial features, there are only a red 2 and 5 in the place of the character’s cheeks.

This actually directly references and builds on the logo used for the Pokemon 20th anniversary logo. That year, a simple Pikachu face with a red 2 and 0 as cheeks was used as the image for the festivities. (It also featured all of the starters over the years, with Pikachu in the center, being used together to create the Pikachu face.) In case you forgot how that looked, here’s a quick peek at it.

As a reminder, Pokemon’s anniversaries always fall on the Japanese launch day for Pokemon Red and Green. Those debuted in Japan on February 27, 1996.

The Pokemon 25th anniversary will fall on February 27, 2021. Nintendo, The Pokemon Company, and Game Freak have yet to reveal what other games, merchandise, or special events may be planned.
