The book is a collection of CG art assets, such as character models and accessories, and visual references that the staff used. For example, in the preview there are pictures of the real-life dress and jacket the artists tailored for Aerith. Staff commentary on each page for assets give insight into aesthetic choices and difficulties during the production process.

Aside from references, they also have storyboards for limit breaks, such as Shiva’s Diamond Dust and Bahamut’s Megaflare. The last page in the preview introduces the music in the Final Fantasy VII Remake soundtrack in order of appearance, along with comments from the sound staff.

Square Enix Manga & Books announced Final Fantasy VII Remake: Material Ultimania’s English release date earlier in 2021. The Japanese version came out in October 2020.

Final Fantasy VII Remake: Material Ultimania will come out digitally and physically on December 7, 2021.
