Colopl has released more information on Project Babel, including the game’s Japanese title, Saihate no Babel (Babel at the Ends of the Earth in English). The new info includes a story synopsis by Final Fantasy VII writer Kazushige Nojima, as well as an introduction to new key characters Chairman Onneman of the Babel Council and Rieko the mechanic. The giant tower Babel.
It’s a place of people who have lost the concept of civilization, and is silently heading towards demise.
The town is surrounded by a sprawling forest that itself is surrounded by a giant stone wall. Nobody knows what is outside the wall. Nobody even thinks about going outside the wall. Except for him.
Rye, a 17 year old boy. He was raised in a cut-off room, and has never been allowed outside even once. Someday, he hopes, he’ll gain freedom, and learn about the world outside. That is his constant wish, and it’s about to be granted, as a sudden change is about to shock the city.
In Tower Year 1119…
The boy will meet a girl trapped inside a cage. Upon this meeting, he will gain the wings that will let him soar around the world. Together, they will begin to head towards their respective destinies.
The committee chairman who leads Babel 03, where Rye lives. He is a leader respected by the masses, and is also involved in keeping Rye isolated from the world.
A mechanic and inventor working in Babel 03. She’s a dependable woman who supports Rye on his journey.
