Update: Project M’s release appears to be slightly delayed. It appears the update is still on track for release sometime today, but it may be a few more hours until you can grab it. On the mod’s official Facebook page, the following message was posted: “Stayed up late? We can’t give you 3.5 yet, but we know something else we know that you would really like”.
Then, in reply to an enquiring user, the team posted: “Go to bed, it’s still a fair bit away!”
Original story: The community-based team creating the “Project M” mod for Super Smash Bros. Brawl has released a trailer that details the changes in the 3.5 update, which is also available from today.
Project M is inspired by Super Smash Bros. Melee‘s gameplay, and is “designed to add rich, technical gameplay to a balanced cast of characters while additionally enhancing the speed of play.”
As the trailer shows, the 3.5 update moves the mod closer to the team’s design goals with a number of tweaks, as well as plenty of additional content.
This includes better-looking menus, a new debug mode, new colors and costumes for nearly every character, new stages as well as improvements to existing ones (such as Yoshi’s Island Brawl), updated event matches in single-player, improved stamina mode, and much more.
You can download the latest Project M version on the download page, where you’ll also find instructions of how to get it running on your Wii. Note that the game only runs on NTSC (US) Brawl discs currently, but the PAL (Europe) version will be released shortly.
