Retro City Rampage: DX Arrives On Nintendo 3DS This Month

Retro-styled open-world game Retro City Rampage: DX will be released for the Nintendo 3DS via the Nintendo eShop later this month, developer VBlank Have announced via Twitter. The game will be priced at $9.99.

The February window is for North America specifically, but VBlank hope to have the game released in Europe this month as well. They tweeted in reply to European fan: “Hopefully feb. Submitted to both simultaneously but [Nintendo of America] was faster to finish certification.”

The Nintendo 3DS version of Retro City Rampage has a few additional platform-specific features that have been revealed thus far. An updated map of the city is displayed on the 3DS’ bottom screen, and you can touch the screen to select different weapons. Additionally, while important displays such as health and objectives are displayed on the top screen of the 3DS, other elements of the HUD have been moved to the bottom screen as well. Adjustments have also been made to the game’s camera.

VBlank also say that Retro City Rampage: DX (which we assume stands for “deluxe”) will include other new features that will be exclusive to the 3DS version, and that there are no plans to port them to other platforms at the moment. Note, however, that the 3DS version of the game will not support stereoscopic 3D visuals. You can read about the reasons for this here.

Retro City Rampage is already available for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and Wii. You can view screenshots of the 3DS version below.
