Retroism is hoping to bring Bubsy the bobcat back. The company has put Bubsy Two-Fur, a collection that includes Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind and Bubsy II on Steam Greenlight and begun a #SaveBubsy Twitter campaign to raise awareness.
The goal is to get Bubsy Two-Fur through the Steam Greenlight process, then release ports of the 1993 and 1994 platformers for Windows PCs. The Steam Greenlight page suggests a late 2015 release window, dependent on the game’s approval.
Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind saw the bobcat attempting to recover his balls of yarn from aliens called Woolies across 16 levels. The Steam Greenlight page suggests it is a port of the Windows 95 version of the game, since it mentions the interactive cartoon included in that release. In Bubsy II, he goes through 30 levels in the Amazatorium, fighting other animals. It offers the opportunity to try and shoot for the highest score in each level or get through every one as quickly as possible.
A total of four Bubsy games were created. The final two, which aren’t in this collection, were Bubsy in Fractured Furry Talesfor the Atari Jaguar and Bubsy 3D for the PlayStation.
