SteamWorld Dig, the platformer-meets-adventure game set in a steampunk town, has a release date. Developer Image & Form have announced that the game will be released via the Nintendo eShop for 3DS this Thursday in the U.S., Europe and Australia.

In SteamWorld Dig, humanity has “blown itself to bits” and the Wild West is now inhabited by steam-powered robots. You play as one such robot named Rusty—as a lone-wolf “cowbot” who arrives at a mining town in distress. You begin mining the ground underneath the town in order to discover treasure and help the townsfolk back on their feet, and in the process, find evil lurking beneath.

SteamWorld Dig will have you digging tunnels, collecting rare ore, and selling it for better equipment in order to help fight the underground terrors.

The game is slated for release on August 7th in Europe/Australia for 8.99 EUR/11.99 AUD, and on August 8th in the U.S. for $8.99.
