Rather than go out to dinner, players can instead go on a monster-killing date in Roguemance, a roguelike where players will need to get to know their significant other through their combat style.
Roguemance will have players working with their AI partner to kill monsters on a date. They’ll need to learn and anticipate their partner’s moves in order to deal with each creature problem, so getting to know their partner, and knowing when to compromise, is key.
Players are free to date anyone they like as they explore the Heartipelago, trying to heal the land of love while fighting monsters. Each of these creatures is based on a relationship problem, and players will have to overcome these with their date in order to succeed. However, cheating and jealousy can come into play, from the player’ end or the AI’s, creating additional challenges to be overcome in combat and story.
Roguemance is set to release on Steam in 2018. Players interested in more details can sign up for the game’s alpha from the Roguemance site.
