Roundabout Is The Wacky Offspring Of Crazy Taxi And Kuru Kuru Kururin

No Goblin’s zany arcade driving game Roundabout is now released and available to purchase for PC. It will be coming to Xbox One and PS4 in early 2015.

Roundabout owes as much to Kuru Kuru Kururin as it does to Crazy Taxi. Driving a revolving limousine, you aim to pick up as many passengers as possible and deliver them to their destinations. As you’re constantly spinning, you need the right timing to get past obstacles, buildings, and around traffic-filled roads.

There’s a full-motion video throughout the game that tells the rise-to-fame story of chauffeur Georgio Manos in 1977. It’s as ‘70s B-Movie as it gets, mixing well with the games kitschy humor and cartoon violence. It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to find out that No Goblin contains a few people that worked on similarly B-Movie action game Destroy All Humans!

There’s more to Roundabout than just Crazy Taxi with a twist, too. No Goblin describes it as “open world puzzle action”, as there are lots of secrets to discover around the city, collectible pickups to find, and properties to purchase. You can also upgrade your limo with new hats, horns, and paint jobs.

Strangely enough, it seems that No Goblin is also looking to turn Roundabout into an eSport as the game has its own dedicated eSports speedrun mode. If you’re looking for more silliness, though, there’s always Big Head Mode, Roundabutt Mode, and plenty of other wacky modifiers.

You can purchase Roundabout for Windows, Mac, and Linux for $14.99 on Steam right now. There’s also a Deluxe Edition available for $19.99 that adds a first-person “Georgio cam”, screenplay, art book, early builds, unreleased trailers, and the soundtrack. You can also purchase Roundabout on the game’s website through the Humble Store.
