Rumor Control: Final Fantasy VII remake seriously in the works?

Remember how in the Famitsu interview Nomura-san said there is a fifth “unnamed game” he is working on? The rumor has been circulating around the net (again) thanks to a post on nenryoubbs. According to the rumor there is going to be an announcement about a Playstation 3 remake as early as tomorrow, the day when Final Fantasy VII was released. The rumor also says there will be an additional side story included in the Final Fantasy VII remake. Usually I’m out to bust rumors, but Square-Enix has been remaking everything and Final Fantasy VII is one of their strongest titles. Why wouldn’t they remake it? Also this year is the 20^th anniversary of the Final Fantasy franchise and it’s the tenth anniversary of Final Fantasy VII. Square-Enix also has the franchise fresh in everyone’s minds after a successful release of FFVII: Advent Children.
