Indie studio Dakko Dakko has rolled out an anniversary update for its shooter-platformer Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails to mark its first birthday. It’s available right now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Wii U.
This update is designed to make the game more approachable as it adds a twin-stick shooter set-up. Before, your shooting was limited to the way your character was facing but now you can change the direction their arms point allowing for diagonal shots.
Further it allows for greater evasive freedom, eliminating a lot of the recoil that pushed you back while jumping, while certain weapons have been made more powerful. All of this is explained and demonstrated in the video that Dakko Dakko released and that you can watch above.
If you didn’t know, Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails is a side-on mix of platforming and shooting. In each level, the idea is to kill the mice that are holding Earth’s cats captive in their space laboratory. Movement is restricted to the rails that run on the outside of the level but you can jump from rail to rail.
