Sonic’s transition to 3D hasn’t been smooth, but Sega showed Sonic still had life when they brought out Sonic Rush for the DS. In fall 2007 they are going to continue the Sonic Rush series with Sonic Rush Adventure. It’s a dual screen 2D platformer set in Windmill Village and the “ultimate villain” isn’t Dr. Eggman, it’s a robotic pirate named Captain Whisker. Since Sonic is going to be battling pirates on the sea he needs to use a couple of touch screen controlled ships including a submarine, water bike and hovercraft. Besides fighting pirates Sonic will enter a ghost ship, fight skeletons, dinosaurs, robots and later robotic dinosaurs (the ultimate combination?). The enemies might be on the cliche side, but if Sonic Rush sticks to what Sonic does best, speed, Sega could have another Sonic game for fans to look forward too. See more screenshots of Sonic Rush Adventure past the break.

Meet Captain Whisker!
