Spike Chunsoft, Inc. has shed light on what bonus content players can expect to see in the upcoming Steam and Nintendo Switch ports of Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate when the game releases later this year. This is according to an email sent out by the company on September 26, 2020.

Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate is a roguelike RPG that originally debuted in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS back in 2010. It  received an expanded version for the PlayStation Vita in 2015, which then launched in Europe and North America in 2016. The upcoming version of the game expands even further on the original’s content.

Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate for Steam and the Nintendo Switch will have multiple bonus dungeons, each with its own unique approach to gameplay. The “Bladeless Wasteland” will be a dungeon without weapon drops where physical attacks will do minimal damage. The “Cloister of Certain Doom” is a dungeon where players can impose a turn limit on themselves. If they don’t clear the dungeon within the target number of turns, they are ejected back to the surface. A dungeon called “Garden of Destiny,” rewards players for quickly dispatching monsters because the more attacks it takes to slay them, the fewer experience points they yield. Garden of Destiny can be unlocked by clearing the main game where Shiren undertakes the challenges of multiple dungeons in pursuit of a treasure that might be able to change fate and save a young girl.

The PlayStation Vita version of the game had additional online functionality until the game’s servers shut down in December of 2019. The upcoming version of the game will also have some online modes. In Shiren The Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate, a false move or some bad luck will cause the character to lose progress. With the “Wanderer Rescue,” mode, players can sometimes nullify that loss by requesting help from others when their character collapses. A global ranking system will allow players to track scores and compete with others regardless of language or region.

According to the email, the game will launch with a new music collection feature and an optional live display that contains UI features designed for streaming.

Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate is set to release on the Nintendo Switch and Steam on December 2, 2020 in North America and Europe. The release date for Japan is December 3, 2020.
