Koei is bringing Samurai Warriors: Katana to the market on January 15, 2008, which means it’s going to come out before Dragon Quest Swords in North America. This is the reverse of what happened in Japan since Square-Enix’s game came out first and Koei followed up with Samurai Warriors: Katana. Both games have essentially the same premise, you use the Wii remote as a sword and slash at enemies on screen. It’s simplistic, arcadey fun. Samurai Warriors: Katana does have a tiny difference besides replacing slimes with samurai, it includes other weapons on top of a sword. The list of weapons includes: a hammer, spear, bow and gun. Hmm… I wonder if this will affect North America’s perception of Dragon Quest Swords since you’re restricted to a single weapon and magic.
