Sony Reassures PS Vita In Japan Will Continue Getting Physical Games Beyond March 2019

Earlier this week we learned that Sony Interactive Entertainment plans on ending production of physical games in the Americas and Europe by March 31, 2019. As for Japan, the company recently reassured fans that they will continue getting physical games beyond March 2019.   The information comes from GameSpark, who asked Sony Interactive Entertainment a few questions:””   Q1: Are the reports on ending PS Vita game cartridge production in the West true? A1: Production of PlayStation Vita cartridges in the Americas and European regions will end by March 2019. Digital games distribution will continue.   Q2: What about support in Japan? A2: PlayStation Vita cartridge production will continue in Japan.   Q3: Will production of the PS Vita console continue? A3: In Japan, users will get to continue enjoying the broad lineup of titles, and we currently plan to continue marketing activities.   The PlayStation Vita system first launched in Japan on December 17, 2011. It followed with a 1st Edition release in North America on February 15, 2012 and a general release for both North America and Europe on February 22, 2012.
