For those who enjoy the good game of golf but don’t believe in getting yourself sunburned and tired out from wandering a massive 18-hole course, there’s always been titles like Sony’s Hot Shots Golf series. Now, there’s a new Android version called Hot Shots Golf: Smart—though it isn’t quite for everyone.
Instead, it’s part of NTT Docomo’s monthly subscription “Sugotoku Contents” package (which also happens to pack in things like weather forecasts, news and… fortune-telling). If you’re subscribed to that, you’ll find the free-to-play game comes with both regular Stroke mode as well as a Challenge mode and can be controlled via the touch screen for fine-tuning of your angles and chips. You can also purchase further courses or characters and costumes within the app itself.
This isn’t the first time that the golf series has gone mobile, having graced several specific phone models in Japan long ago, but with the still-growing speed of smartphones in Japan, we might be able to see this particular mobile version head overseas later.
Hot Shots Golf: Smart is available now on Android in Japan.
