Tales of Arise Soulcalibur Artist

Soulcalibur and Tekken concept artist Hiroaki Kawagoe created Tales of Arise artwork to celebrate the game’s launch. The oil painting-style piece features the game’s two main characters, Shionne and Alphen.

Hiroaki Kawagoe has worked on Bandai Namco games since 1999, starting as a stage designer for Tekken Tag Tournament. He would later go on to work as stage design director on Tekken 4, before becoming a director on Soulcalibur III and Soulcalibur Legends. Kawagoe has also worked as an illustrator on Arms and Mario Kart 8.

The official Tales of Arise Twitter account has been sharing launch artwork made by various artists over the past month. Last week, it revealed artwork of Shionne, Kisara, and Rinwell, from two prominent Bandai Namco artists Kiyotaka Tamiya and Daigo Okumura. Tamiya previously worked on Tales of Legendia. Okumura worked on Tales of Xillia 2 and Scarlet Nexus. Earlier this month, it also showcased launch artwork of Law, Kisara, and Dohalim created by the art director of Scarlet Nexus.

Tales of Arise recently reached a significant milestone of 1.5 million copies sold just two days ago. Bandai Namco celebrated the achievement with special artwork from character designer Minoru Iwamoto. This piece featured Law and Rinwell alongside her pet Hootle.

Tales of Arise is currently available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
