Worlds of Power were a series of video game-based novels that told stories about Metal Gear, Mega Man 2, and Bionic Commando back in the 1990’s. Souls of Darkness is a book that continues in the vein of those novels, telling a story of a young girl who’s been pulled into the world of Dark Souls.
Designed as a silly parody, Souls of Darkness reimagines Dark Souls as an NES game, exploring how the game would be different on the console, and also how the young heroine, Maya Hunter, could possibly survive getting drawn into the lethal world of her favorite game.
Souls of Darkness works to also tell an open story that is ripe for interpretation, similar to the way Dark Souls deals with narrative. The book is also filled with nods, Easter eggs, and bits of lore for Dark Souls fans to enjoy.
Souls of Darkness is available now in PDF and audiobook formats. Physical copies are also available.
