To no surprise a console game based on the 2008 Speed Racer movie is scheduled to come out around the same time as the film's release. The game is going to be developed by Sidhe Interactive who made Gripshift on the PSP and the upcoming Jackass game. While Sidhe Interactive seems like a natural choice because they have worked on a few racing titles, this is going to be their first foray with Nintendo hardware. And the Speed Racer game is only scheduled to come out for the Playstation 2, Wii and the Nintendo DS. Hmm…
Also why isn’t Speed Racer a mega multiplatform game like other Hollywood blockbusters like Transformers, Spider Man or Shrek. Were development costs too high? Or is Sidhe focusing on making a unique experience that can’t be emulated by pressing buttons and the PS2 is getting a port of the Wii game.
