Square Enix, continuing their string of acquisitions, purchased the rights to Dungeon Siege. Gas Powered Games sold Dungeon Siege – the entire license to the home of Dragon Quest.

After the deal was made, Square Enix handed the work of making Dungeon Siege 3 to Obsidian Entertainment who are making the game for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Dungeon Siege 3 will be the first Dungeon Siege game for consoles and Square Enix’s first fantasy Western RPG.

Dungeon Siege 3 is slated for release early next year.
