Square Enix’s New Smartphone Action RPG Samurai Rising Is Kind Of Like Crystal Chronicles

Square Enix announced that their upcoming “ultimate action RPG” for smartphone, called Samurai Rising, will launch this spring in Japan. Here’s a look at its first trailer, showing off its gameplay.

While the game is titled Samurai Rising, it appears to feature some traditional Final Fantasy jobs including a Dragoon, White Mage, and Black Mage thrown in a Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles-style action game. The trailer also shows some attacks such as Holy, Jump, and other familiar skills.

The game was teased last week as “Project: Rising” for smartphone. Those of you interested in checking out the game can pre-register now on the official website.

Samurai Rising will release in Japan in spring 2016 for Android and iOS. It’s a free-to-play game with micro-transactions.
