After you track enemy ships using sonar the game switches into periscope mode where you need to physically turn around to shoot them down. Steel Diver uses the Nintendo 3DS’ built in gyroscopic sensors to detect your orientation. Moving your body and the handheld is how players aim their torpedoes in this game.

Steel Diver also has a strategic simulation naval battle mode. In this mode, both sides (player and enemy) cannot see their opponent’s side of the ocean. You have to discover enemy vessels with your submarine so you can sink them. Naval battle mode can be played against a computer or a friend using download play.
