Grasshopper Manufacture CEO Goichi Suda previously mentioned that some of the ideas they have for their upcoming action game, Lily Bergamo, involve smartphone apps and a unique way of using the PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4 touchpad. During an interview with Famitsu magazine, Suda shared a few more details on the game.

Famitsu begins by asking what the reason was for deciding to make Lily Bergamo for PlayStation 4.

“Grasshopper Manufacture is now part of the GungHo family and it was GungHo Online Entertainment CEO Kazuki Morishita who said ‘let’s make a game that puts together the taste of both companies’.” explains Suda. “So in the midst of all that, the talks of Lily Bergamo just happened. I’ve been keeping an eye on the PS4 from its early stages, and decided to challenge this platform, so we decided to develop it for PS4.”

When asked what genre Lily Bergamo will fall into, Suda reiterates that it won’t just be an action game, but a “super action game”. Additionally, he says that Grasshopper are currently taking on the challenge of making a companion app, through smartphones or tablets, that will be part of a big feature in the game. (Now, where have we heard that before…?)

Famitsu then asks Suda to share a few more details on the app they have in mind.

“Well, the companion app is currently being developed for smartphones,” says Suda. “The GungHo group’s biggest strength lies within its online features, so we’re currently putting together a bunch of ideas from the development staff for this very purpose. I hope you guys keep a close eye on it.”

So far, we’ve heard several keywords about the PlayStation 4, such as “easy to use,” “speed,” “social,” “service,” and more. Out of all these, Famitsu asks Suda which one stands out the most.

“The most impressive one to me so far has got to be ‘speed’,” answers Suda. “As a video game console, that’s the part the stood out to me the most for the PlayStation 4. We make games, so we want to make them fun, and we also put a lot of effort into making them as appealing as possible. In order to do that, we need hardware that can show ‘speed’.”

“When it comes to making games, having this ‘speed’ available as an ingredient really puts us at ease,” he continues. “Even as we currently develop, we can really feel the response of having it available.”

Finally, Famitsu notes that Lily Bergamo will probably take a while before it’s ready for release, but asks about its current state of development.

“We’re doing everything we can to release the game as soon as possible, and we’re putting a lot of work into it one day at a time,” says Suda.

“At the moment, everyone on the team is putting their best efforts into Lily Bergamo, and building on it every day.”

“We’re putting together interesting ideas, properly taking care of the data, and making adjustments. We’re truly working hard while putting a lot of importance on time. Please continue supporting Lily Bergamo!”

Lily Bergamo is currently in development for PlayStation 4, and is expected to be released sometime in 2014.
