Summon Night developers Felistella are currently working with Compile Heart to develop Hyperdimension Neptunia; Birth 1, a PlayStation Vita remake of Hyperdimension Neptunia. Felistella CEO Takayuki Kinoshita and vice president Yasuo Morifuji talk about their progress in a Game Watch interview.

Game Watch start the Hyperdimension Neptunia remake talks by asking what kind of game one can expect from Felistella.

“When you play it on the PlayStation Vita, you’ll think ‘woah’,” says Morifujii. “While we did give it a little touch-up, it feels as if it was already made just for the Vita, as there aren’t any feelings of discomfort, and not to mention its very high quality.”

“The development staff are putting serious effort into it,” adds Kinoshita. “Originally, the data was from a non-portable console. We’re currently developing it to give it an acceptable appearance, while enhancing its playability, even if it’s a little at a time.”

Felistella are putting a considerable amount of effort into the smaller details, and Kinoshita feels that this a good thing, but it also has its drawbacks as well.

“No matter how you put it, we’re still only three stages in,” says Kinoshita, as he expresses his thoughts on how he  feels they are under more pressure for the remake. “Our top priority is to deliver the best possible product to the players.”

“We will look at the [sales] figures. But that is our lowest priority,” adds Morifuji.

“In the end, whether Felistella develops console or mobile games, I want it to be a company that produces games that make people want to try them out because of how fun they look. That’s something that hasn’t changed since the start of this company,” explains Kinoshita.

Morifuji shares, “It’s crucial for games to be developed thoroughly. And that’s where Felistella shines.”

Finally, Kinoshita shares a message for fans:

“To the fans out there, I’d like to make a product that will please all of you. Using that concept as a base, I’d like to further expand its hardware [availability]. We’re looking forward to  having even just a few more people enjoy our games thanks to the more readily available devices.”

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re:Birth 1 will be available in Japan on October 31.
