And so, we come to the end of another busy week. Honestly, if this column weren’t called “Sundae Funday,” I’d write it on Saturdays instead. It’s little depressing to have to acknowledge the end of the week on Sunday, knowing work is just a few hours away. Oh well…have some ice-cream with syrup.


Ever wondered how we choose ice-cream images for this column? I actually tend to prefer using images that are a little “moist” as they convey the “cream” part of “ice-cream” better.


The Adaptability Of Visual Novels: An Interview With 5pb’s Chiyomaru Shikura

I have to admit, this is one of my favourite interviews on the site to date. Visual novels are my favourite genre of game, and actually being able to talk with one of the most interesting visual novel publishers in Japan at the moment felt great.


Perhaps the biggest compliment I could give 5pb’s Shikura is that he’s very aware of the challenges visual novels face in today’s extremely complex game market, and that, despite this, he’s still as optimistic as one could possibly be about the future of the genre. 5pb are a company with a plan, and frankly, that’s very reassuring.

Nora And The Carving Studio For Nintendo DS Unites Etrian Odyssey And Atelier Staff

Etrian Odyssey director, Shigeo Komori, is developing what he calls a “heartwarming” Nintendo DS RPG for Atlus, and he’s doing it with the help of the  Shinichi Yoshiike, known for his work on the Atelier series.
