Super Mario Maker is a great creation tool, but not a comprehensive one. There are many elements from previous Super Mario games that still aren’t included in the software. Before those can start arriving, though, Nintendo has decided to introduce new items exclusive to this Nintendo Wii U editor.
When Super Mario Maker updates on December 21, three new items will be added to the game. The first is the Bumper. It’s a donut shaped platform Mario can bounce off of to reach new heights. A Fire Koopa Clown Car will also be added, for people who want to make shoot’em up courses. Once Mario is inside of it, he can shoot off fireballs and charged shots that will destroy enemies and blocks. The final item is a P Warp Door, which only appears in a level after a P Switch has been pressed. It remains hidden away until that happens.
The December 21 Super Mario Maker update will also add two new features to Course World. People will be able to bookmark levels shared online. These levels will be able to be sorted either in-game on the Nintendo Wii U or by visiting a web portal that will launch on the Super Mario Maker website. Also, all Course World courses will feature World Records, showing how quickly the best players will be able to clear it.
The Super Mario Maker update will be released on Monday. We’ll have to wait and see if it also ends up increasing the number of slots in the Mystery Mushroom for future Costume Mario outfits.
