Super Monkey Ball for the Nintendo 3DS has two control schemes. You can roll AiAi and his simian pals with the slide pad or if you prefer motion control you can tilt the 3DS.
Besides banana filled mazes, Super Monkey Ball has the Monkey Fight and Monkey Race games also seen in earlier Super Monkey Ball titles. Players will be able to knock each other with spring-loaded boxing gloves over a local Wi-Fi connection.
“The moment I saw the features of the Nintendo 3DS, I could not help thinking how perfectly Super Monkey Ball would work on this new hardware. I could quickly picture myself holding the Nintendo 3DS using the motion sensor and playing Super Monkey Ball. The simple gameplay allows players to enjoy the 3D graphics to the fullest and now that we have brought this vision to life…bingo! We have our all-time favorite Super Monkey Ball experience with the new excitement of the Nintendo 3DS,” Toshiro Nagoshi, creator Super Monkey Ball franchise and Yakuza series, exclaimed. That’s right, the man who dreamt up Kamurocho also thought of a game where poor Monkeys are eternally taunted by bananas they can never eat because they are trapped inside a plastic ball.
Super Monkey Ball is scheduled to come out in Japan next spring and North America sometime in 2011.
