Take The Square Enix Dragon Quest Story Writing Test

Square Enix is hiring new story writers for Dragon Quest. The requirements are knowledge of Japanese, experience with office tools like Excel & Word, and that you like Dragon Quest.

On top of submitting a resume, all applicants have to send two writing samples. The first is an essay about what you think of the Dragon Quest series, your experiences, and where you want it to go in the future.

 

The second is a short story with an escape theme. The trick is you have to use three or more elements from this list: mouse, collection, murmur or muttering, ball (like a formal dance, not the bouncy red kind), bunny girl, surprise, and your appearance. Writing samples should be between 1,000 – 1,600 Japanese characters so roughly 1,000 – 1,600 words.
