How big is the Baldur’s Gate 3 download size?

The Baldur’s Gate III Download Size Is Substantial

Baldur’s Gate III is one of the largest RPGs in recent memory. Not only does the game have an overwhelming amount of cutscenes, but massive maps and areas to explore with its large cast of characters. As you might expect, the Baldur’s Gate III download size is quite large to compensate for this and needs 150GB.

How Much Space Do You Need to Download Baldur’s Gate III?

At launch, Baldur’s Gate III’s download size requires you to have approximately 150GB of available space on your computer to download the game. This is quite a lot more than the roughly less than 75GB that it was at during the early access period.

In actuality, my experience shows that the overall space you’ll need for the game is more like 124GB in total. This changed over the last week with more updates, so expect to download around that much when the game releases on Steam for you.

Regardless, if you can ensure you have at least 150GB, just to be safe, you’ll probably be good to go on downloading this game. This is notable for Steam Deck players like myself, since the built-in memory space is quite limited, even on the most expensive model.

For my Steam Deck, in particular, it takes up more than half of the available space on the internal drive. You’ll want to consider deleting some other games or moving some of your titles over to an SD card to make room for this massive title.

Baldur’s Gate III is available for PC and will release for PS5 on September 6, 2023.
