If you’re one of the people who just can’t wait to play Warhawk and want to save $20, it just went live on the Playstation Store. The price is $40, which may make it the most expensive downloadable game to date. Alternatively, you can buy the Blu-ray version that comes with a Bluetooth headset and DVDs for $60.

I wonder how Sony’s two pronged strategy is going to work out. It’s nice to have more options, but I imagine that bundled hard drive is going to fill up fast if people opt to get downloadable versions of Warhawk and SOCOM. Also in the future Warhawk, like every other game on retail shelves, will be discounted. Will Sony drop the price of the downloadable release to match it?

It’s way too early to answer these questions, but just late enough to enjoy online dog fighting.
