Things We’d Like to See in Diablo IV Season 1

Diablo IV will have seasonal content, similar to its predecessor Diablo III and Diablo II: Resurrected. While Blizzard revealed certain details about Season 1 in Diablo IV, it mostly concerned the upcoming Battle Pass. Previously, Battle Passes were not used in the Diablo series. However, with Seasonal content just around the corner, players can expect unique cosmetics they can obtain during these limited periods, and other rewards.

Interesting-looking cosmetics (you can get for free)

Cosmetics will be part of the Seasonal Battle Pass, as confirmed through an official Diablo IV live stream. However, there will be paid and free tiers for the Battle Pass. Hopefully, the Diablo IV Season 1 rewards will include some interesting and good looking cosmetics for players. This can be weapons or armor, but used as something to help create new transmogs or interesting looking characters, since the game already has a cash shop for paid cosmetics. Hopefully the Season Pass will allow for players to obtain cool looking armor and weapons for free.

Unique seasonal activities

One of my favorite Seasonal activities in Diablo III, and by seasonal I mean it rolls around every few months, was the Darkening of Tristram event. While it used to be relegated to only showing up in January and February, it returned for the final season of Diablo III. This activity involved players finding unique items to unlock a portal that would send them to an area reminiscent of the original Diablo, just with their Diablo III characters. It would be cool to see something like this appear in Diablo IV, even if it would be a bit ambitious for the first Season of the game.

Mounts that aren’t horses

Diablo IV added mounts into the game as a means of quickly traversing the map. While there are a handful of horses you can get, along with armor and adornments, it would be neat to see mounts that aren’t horses included as Seasonal rewards or through the Battle Pass. Something more ferocious, like a wolf or bear, would be interesting, or even a demon of some kind. Other MMO-lite games like Lost Ark have a plethora of different mounts, alongside standard horses, so it wouldn’t be out of the question to see something similar appear in Diablo IV.

Unique seasonal mechanics

Unique seasonal mechanics could add another layer of depth and incentivize players to tackle Seasonal content. In Diablo III, certain seasons featured some unique gimmicks, with Season 28 adding a passive skill tree players could unlock, with special potions and a class specific gear set as your final reward. Even if something like this doesn’t appear in the first Season of Diablo IV, it would be nice to see it appear further down the line, especially to make each Season feel unique and worth engaging in outside of the Battle Pass.

Diablo IV is available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox One.
