With new co-op moves, weapons, female cat Oni, and a bunch of others, Toukiden Extreme sounds like it has a lot of additions contained within. This week’s Famitsu shares a few details on a new Mitama system.

For those unfamiliar with Toukiden’s Mitama system, the game includes a set of skills featuring various Japanese figures or deities from Ancient Japan to the Bakumatsu. They come in different types that go with different play styles.

While skills were always restricted to what’s included with the Mitama, Toukiden Extreme allows players to freely switch around different skills on the Mitama, giving them more options to mix and match with abilities.

So that gives you more options, where the first game might’ve had some Mitama that had the abilities you wanted but not the right skills.

Toukiden Extreme is slated for release in Japan on August 28, 2014 for PlayStation Vita and PSP.
