This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

Back in July of last year, Splatoon held its final Splatfest battle in which players voted for their favorite of the Squid Sisters, Callie & Marie. Now, Nintendo has added a new section in the Splatoon 2’s website which follows the story of what happened between the sisters after the final Splatfest.

The intro and prologue to the “Squid Sister Stories” have been shared so far, with more planned for the future up until Splatoon 2’s release for the Switch in the later half of July. You can read the first part of the Squid Sister Stories below, taken from the game’s official website.

One of our researchers monitoring the Squid Sisters intercepted this top-secret report from the Inkling world.

Let’s see now… What? Just what in the world IS this?!

About nine months have passed since the final Splatfest.

Twilight lowers its curtain on Inkopolis. Neon signs paint the dusk in brilliant shades of green and pink. The Squid Sisters dance on, as though driven by the Inkling love of battling for turf.

Memories such as these linger, vividly etched in my mind, but feel too like remnants of a long-forgotten past.
It happened the night the final Splatfest came to an end.

The showdown of Callie versus Marie ended in victory for Marie, but there was no ill will between the two. The girls left the studio arm in arm, smiling and laughing as they always had. The bond between them would continue, unbroken, for years to come.

Or so it seemed at the time…

Splatoon 2 will release for the Nintendo Switch on July 21st, 2017.
