Pokémon GO fans will soon have a brand-new feature to look forward to that will make catching specific types of Pokémon easier. Niantic revealed that this new feature will grant players a bonus based on the medals earned by catching Pokémon, such as Kindler, Gardener, Swimmer, among many others.

Reaching higher and higher tiers of certain Medals will mean you will have a better chance of capturing a Pokémon of that corresponding type. For example, achieving a high tier of the Kindler Medal will grant you an increased chance of successfully catching Fire-type Pokémon such as Charmander, Ponyta, Growlithe, and Vulpix, to name a few.

Additionally, if a Pokémon you encounter has two types, your capture bonus will be the average of your corresponding Medals.
