Watch: Marvel Ultimate Alliance PS3 trailer

While Marvel Ultimate Alliance is shipping for every system under the sun, minus the Gamecube, each “next-gen” version is different from the other. You’re still going to be creating a team of Marvel super heroes and saving the comic book universe from ultimate destruction in every version of the game, but the control scheme is going to be different. The Xbox 360 release uses your standard control set up where you just press buttons to do attacks. While the Wii release has something called the “advanced gesture based combat system” where you use the Wiimote and nunchuck to do combat using physical motions. Swiping upwards does an uppercut, sweeping left is used for trip moves and there are custom character attacks mapped out.

Until now we haven’t seen what Activision and Raven Software planned for the PS3. Were they going to add in tilt control? This video answers the question. You can see the player moving the controller down to make Colossus do a slam attack, tilting it forward to do a slash attack with Wolverine and at the near end the SixAxis controller is tilted to throw an enemy caught in Spider-Man’s webbing.
