Watch Sonic Mania’s Bonus Stages, Special Stages, And Time Attack In A New Trailer

Recommended Videos

Sonic Mania is an homage to all of those classic Sonic the Hedgehog games. To make sure the ambiance is accurate, Sega has revealed it has various extra stages and modes available in the game. Bonus Stages, Special Stages, and Time Attack will all be making a comeback.

The Bonus Stages and Special Stages are two kinds of stages people may stumble upon while playing Sonic Mania. In the Bonus Stages, Blue Spheres will be littered throughout the stage. You need to touch all the blue spheres to turn them red to win and get a Gold Medallion. Touching any red sphere ends the stage. Meanwhile, the Special Stages have you trying to catch a UFO. Grabbing blue spheres increases your meter and Mach level speed. The goal is to go fast enough to grab the Chaos Emerald from the UFO while staying in control and not falling off of the stage.

Time Attack is a mode that keeps track of how long it takes you to beat areas in Sonic Mania. Your times are sent to an online leaderboard. You can then check and see how you compare to players around the world, attempting to break both their records and your own.
