Last week, Japan saw the release of a few major titles including The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel on PS4, FIFA 18, and Fire Emblem Warriors for the Nintendo Switch and 3DS. Other new titles include Genkai Tokki: Castle Panzers, Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition, Coven and Labyrinth of Refrain on PS4, and Shinobi, Koi Utsusu -Kanmitsu Hana Emaki-. Japanese sales tracker Media Create shared the latest on software and hardware sales data from the week of September 25 through October 1, 2017.

#1 of the week goes to The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III on PlayStation 4, which debuted with 87,261 units sold. To give you an idea how the series performed thus far, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel debuted in October 2013 with 81,622 units sold on PS Vita and 67,718 units sold on PS3 for a total of 149,340 copies between the two. Its sequel, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II, released the following year on October 2014 with 86,283 units sold on PS Vita and 65,498 units sold on PS3 for a total of 151,781 units sold.

The biggest take here is that performance-wise the third entry in the Trails of Cold Steel series has performed as usual but with lower numbers as expected being only on the PS4.

FIFA 18 came in #2 with 55,919 units sold on PS4. Its Nintendo Switch version sold 12,616 units to chart at #8 to give the title a total of 68,535 units sold.  FIFA 17 sold 69,973 units (57,012 on PS4 and 12,961 on PS3) last year, so things haven’t changed much there.

At #3 we have Fire Emblem Warriors with 41,491 units sold on the Nintendo Switch and its 3DS version placed #6 with 18,357 units for a total of 59,848 units sold between the two.

Splatoon 2’s second place streak came to an end at five weeks in a row, as it charted at #4 with 29,704 units sold. Pokkén Tournament DX continues fighting on at #5 with 23,543 units sold in the week.

Other new titles released this week include Genkai Tokki: Castle Panzers at #9 with 10,389 units sold on PS4, Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition at #13 with 6,507 units sold on PS4, Coven and Labyrinth of Refrain at #15 with 5,681 units sold on PS4, and Shinobi, Koi Utsusu -Kanmitsu Hana Emaki- at #18 with 4,629 units sold on PS Vita.

Hardware sales remained mostly the same from last week, but we did see a big increase in Nintendo Switch sales going from 43,426 units sold the week prior to 73,231 units this past week. Going by Media Create’s numbers, that puts the Nintendo Switch’s total sales at 1,783,183 units sold since its launch in March.
