The Xbox 360 is entering another continent on September 29, 2006 when the console is launched in South Africa. For the price of 3,699R ($521) games can pick up a pro system or get the cheaper core system for 2,699R ($380). Microsoft will bring familiar launch titles like Perfect Dark Zero, Project Gotham Racing 3 and Kameo: Elements of Power to go with the system. Other anticipated titles like Crackdown, Viva Pinata and Gears of War will come in the following weeks. On the release Cindy White, South Africa Group Marketing Manager, Microsoft said, “we’re committed to ensuring gamers in South Africa have a great Xbox 360 experience.  To that end we’re taking steps so that a full portfolio of great games, tailored to appeal to local tastes, is available as well as accessories that complement the gaming experience.” It is going to be interesting to see what games Microsoft considers to appeal to “local tastes” in South Africa. Or maybe there is a chance that designers will make games specifically for the “local tastes” in South Africa through XNA and the Xbox Marketplace.
