It was a pleasant surprise to see the series’ recurring world Ivalice appear in Final Fantasy XIV, and Ivalice creator Yasumi Matsuno had more to share about how it started in a recent video interview with IGN.
In the video Matsuno shares his thoughts on Ivalice and how it went into Final Fantasy XIV. Final Fantasy XIV art director Hiroshi Minagawa also shared his thoughts that went into bringing Ivalice into the MMORPG.
Yasumi Matsuno was credited as the director and scenario writer for Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Vagrant Story. He was also the producer for Vagrant Story as well as Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. He wrote the story and original concept for Final Fantasy XII as well. He is credited as a guest creator for Final Fantasy XIV’s “Return to Ivalice” raid series.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on PlayStation 4 and PC.
