During a special live stream by Famitsu, NieR: Automata director Yoko Taro, producer Yosuke Saito, Platinum Games’ game designer Isao Negishi, and composer Keiichi Okabe of Monaca got together for some drinks.

During the broadcast, the developers shared many drinks and jokes. If you’re wondering what kind of jokes, here’s a little bit from Yoko Taro who shared his thoughts after being congratulated again for the million shipments of NieR: Automata:

Yoko Taro: I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again, but I just want you all to know— after surpassing a million… I haven’t seen any money for it.

Yoko Taro: However, Saito-san…

Yosuke Saito: Hey! I haven’t received money either!

Yoko Taro: No, no, no. You now have the title of million-seller producer to pick up chicks.

Yosuke Saito: Wait, aren’t you able to pick up just as many girls as the million-seller director?

Yoko Taro: Nope.

Yosuke Saito: What the heck are you talking about?

Yoko Taro: Well, we all do need dreams.

Yosuke Saito: Well, I’m sure it happens, there are many who aim to become game makers in order to leave behind a piece of their dream.

Yoko Taro: And that’s important.

Yosuke Saito: Very important.

After exchanging more pleasantries, the makers showed off bits of the upcoming DLC for NieR: Automata that we recently got to see the other day. Yoko Taro asked PlatinumGames’ Negishi-san “Since we’re releasing costumes from the previous game I think we’ll hear a lot more demand for a remake of it, so would you do it if you’re asked?” to which Negishi enthusiastically responded with “Of course!”

However, shortly afterwards Yoko Taro asked “So you’re saying that you’d do anything if you get money for it?” to which Negishi responded with “Yes!”

Yoko Taro was also asked by Famitsu’s chief editor if he’d do a NieR remake if he has enough time, to which he responded with “I would do anything if I get the money for it.” Again, producer Yosuke Saito previously mentioned that if NieR: Automata sells enough, it’ll definitely be possible for a remake of the original NieR.

While this doesn’t confirm a NieR remake, it’s definitely nice to see the key developers looking as enthusiastic as ever for the possible remake. The ball is in your court now, Square Enix.

NieR: Automata is available on PlayStation 4 and PC.
